Astia-studio was founded in Lappeenranta in 1995 by Anssi Kippo (born 1976). In the beginning, Astia-studio was working on two different locations in Lappeenranta. The small facilities housed a great level of professionalism, which was only waiting to be discovered. The hard and uncompromising work was soon rewarded, and Astia-studio got its breakthrough with Children of Bodom's "Something wild" in 1996. By 1998, Astia was on the lookout for new and bigger facilities, and a 750-square-meter industrial hall was purchased because of its vast space and potential. Inside the hall, two 100% floating modern recording studios were built "in the American way": spare no money or quality. The architecture and structures had to have perfect sonic qualities and flawless acoustics; see the section "Studios" for more details. The new facilities allow fully accurate control over music and all its nuances, so it's literally possible to get "inside the music" while recording and engineering sound. Anssi Kippo remains the soul and head of the studios, and his ear for perfection is one of the secrets behind Astia-studio's success. "I think of myself as a producer first and engineer second, but of course I love to do both. Today I'm a workaholic. Or actually this is no 'job' -- I'm having a good time with a great talents. The need for evolving remains a never-ending challenge. In this profession, one is never 'ready'. If you feel like it, then it might be the right time to change your job. My motto is simple: never give up. Always seek the best results." 2008 the 2-year renovation is finally over and the place looks and sounds better than ever. |
